Matthew won The last Women’s British Open championship, her 3rd majors victory on the LPGA tour, came less than 3 months after giving birth to her 2nd child, Sophie, and a month prior to her 40th birthday. Immediately after her win she was nominated the Sunday Times Sportswoman of the year and the tour’s European player of the year. The Heather Farr awards and honors a player who, via her hard work and achievements, dedication and her love for Golf, has shown determination, strength and spirit in making the most of herself as a player. The award is given since 1994 to celebrate Heather Farr’s life, an LPGA tour player who died a year before from breast cancer (and who was given the award after her death).
